This was a monster dual meet. I wanted to get info out sooner, but couldn't find results until tonight. Huge meet, tons of huge swims, and my faith in Loyola was restored. 3 swimmers in particular (of many great swims and swimmers) stood out to me and one big name was missing.
Reilly Lanigan and Daria Pyshnenko lit it up for LF and Shannon Kearney of Loyola made a huge appearance.
I don't know if Kolar is out our what, but Kearney replaced her regardless. You'd think that there'd be a huge gap in the medley by losing Jardeleza, but a 1:47 high in the medley shows no signs of weakness. Maria Kyle seems to be back to her usual self and Claire Voss had a great meet swimming breast.
Reilly Lanigan wins the 200 and 500 free and makes me wish that she'd take on Jacobsen in those events. She may be the only one who can, in reality, push her to her limit. The Guyetts and Avdic are great too, but I don't really believe that they can take down a healthy and focused Jacobsen. Reilly could, I think. That's the specialty of Reillys club, not stroke.
I'd love to hear any commentary about the PAC/Stevenson coach leaving abruptly, by the way. I haven't heard much except that they waited until the last minute to hire a new coach, but the assistant who was already in the program for years. But I digress.
Reilly took down Tierney and Andrew, both had good swims. The IM was weak, too be honest. The LF girl won, but I think she's much better than a 2:16.
Daria Pyshnenko lays down 2 pool records in the 50 and 100 respectively. I no longer doubt her state lineup... Those 2 individuals and the two 200 relays. They 400 was a 3:33 without her... That's crazy fast. CRAZY! Here's a screenshot of the LF splits.
Jamie Kolar was missing in action. Anyone know if she's sick, on a trip, or not swimming?
The other big swim was the breast from Claire Voss... 1:07.64
I guess I should also include Haley Nelson and her 100 back at 58.36 and Kearney just behind at 59.03
Lastly, LF won 99-86.
Those are the highlights and my phone is about to die, so I'll end it there. Send me your thoughts, meet updates, info, questions!
